The Swiss TV Tax
In the Nazi days it was a crime not to listen to a Hitler speech.

In Switzerland, anno domini 2021, one cannot decide to boycott the “Schweizerische Radio- und Fernsehgesellschaft (SRG SSR)”. The Swiss voters have opted for a forcible support of the national television and radio network.

But why should anyone want to boycott it? Because it notoriously promotes socialist, globalist and environmental ideas that are neither shared by the general public nor rooted in the political culture of Switzerland.
We have a long tradition of freedom: freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom of opinion. We do not like missionaries of any sort. We believe in secularism in all walks of life. We believe that anglo-saxon moral views, the American way of life and its progressive and ever changing value systems should not be allowed to play an important role in Switzerland.

We also have a very long history of conservatism. In the 700 years of its existence Switzerland has not even considered discussing American vogue trends such as environmentalism, anti-racism, feminism, transgenderism, homosexuality or diversity; we were pretty busy staying out of foolish wars.

The forcible support for a national TV station that does not agree with Swiss values but opposes them is a perversion par excellence.
Clearly this is not a fee, as they like to call it. It is a tax.
And how is this tax collected?
By sneaky means: I have not watched a Swiss TV program in 35 years. But recently someone recommended a Candid Camera episode with Reinhold Messner. So I watched it on my computer.
Result: I got a bill for a thousand Swiss francs.
How did they find out? Simple. A script collects the IP address, this information leads to my name and address. Their database tells them that I have not paid my dues.

Watching Reinhold Messner falling into a trap on Matterhorn wasn't cheap, I have to say that much.

A good analogy came to my mind: I hate meat of any sort and have not eaten meat in 50 years. But the Swiss government and a majority of stupid voters force me to buy a t-bone steak every day because the meat industry needs support.
Freedom? Liberty? Choices? Of course not. This is totalitarianism made in Switzerland.
